Reproductive Health Helps In Improving Maternal Health – Sec. Ona

On a press release from the Department of Health on October 14, 2011, Health Secretary Enrique T. Ona stressed that the health sector needs to improve the access of reproductive health services to the public to promote a better maternal health in the country. This is as he addressed at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASE-AN) Human Rights Conference on Promoting Maternal Health: Responding to the United Nations Millenium Development Goal 5. He stated that health is important so that everyone should have access to good health services which includes reproductive health.

DOH to hire additional 10,000 nurses for the RN Heals program

Last January, the DOH hired around 10,000 nurses from the first batch of the RN Heals program and have sent them to over 1,200 communities all over the country that have none or little access to health care.Due to the success of the first batch of RN HEALS, Department of Health Secretary Enrique Ona promulgated that the governments plans to hire 10,000 registered nurses for the second batch of RN HEALS that will served the local community.
