In this economy, nursing is an especially booming field. While other sectors are down, healthcare is one that is expanding and has good prospects for the future. Here are three reasons why nursing might be the right field for you.

The elderly Filipino woman was shaking when she was brought by the EMS paramedic to Triage. Her eyes were shifty and anxious. She clutched my hand, pleading in silence.

People are funny, and I don’t mean in a ha-ha sort of way. They could be neurotic, bi-polar, obsessive-compulsive, anxious, or agoraphobic, just to name a few types. Some of the ones who came to visit me had their own type: dysfunctional-when-meeting-a-stroke-patient.

Despite all those facts (ouch). There are still many reasons to smile about. Here are some tips on how to stay positive while looking for employment.

No one can deny that the progress of the nursing profession here in the Philippines is on a downward trend. I’ve known this phenomenon ever since I opened my eyes to the realities that surround our profession and I’m sick of it already. And when I say “I’m sick of it”, you better keep your mouth shut and don’t ask me why. Just look around and you will know the answer right away. I saw it coming back then but I still took the risk anyway. To this day, I can’t count how many times people have asked me this same 7-syllable question over and over again:

Ito ang unang beses ko na magkaroon ng kolum para sa lathalaing ito at ito rin ang unang beses na gagamitin ko ang Filipino sa pagsulat. Kahinaan ko ang Filipino, sadyang hirap ang aking utak na humanap ng mga salitang aakma sa nais kong ipahayag. Hindi tulad sa Ingles na hindi ko pa man iniisip ay naisusulat na ng aking mga kamay. Pati nga ispeling ay hindi ako uubra sa Filipino. Sa madaling sabi, talo ako pagdating sa asignaturang ito.
