RN Heals 4 to deploy 22,500 nurses & midwives in 2013

Last September 4, Health Secretary Enrique T. Ona revealed the proposed 2013 budget of P54.6 billion for the Department of Health (DOH). While the press release pointed out striking plans for the health of each Filipino, what caught the most attention of the nurses is this particular paragraph:

“P 2.8 billion is allocated to the Doctors to the Barrios and Rural Health Practice Program for the deployment of 22,500 batch 4 RN HEALS (Registered Nurses for Health Enhancement and Local Service) and midwives to Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) areas, as well as 221 medical doctors to doctor-less municipalities.”

It is an official statement from the Health Secretary himself that, 2.8 billion pesos is allocated for different deployment programs including RN Heals 4. Also, 22,500 nurses and midwives will be deployed!

Yes, there will be a fourth batch of RN Heals 4.

How and when to apply?

No details yet, but it will probably be after the end of RN Heals batch 2.

Where will the nurses be deployed? 

Based on the statement above: “to Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) areas”, the tour of duty will probably in a certain community.

How long will the program be? 

From RN Heals 1 to 3, the duration of duty is 12 months, so probably 12 months also.
