Physical assessment or physical examination is the process by which a qualified medical professional investigates the body of a patient for signs of disease. Physical assessment is a systematic approach and usually uses assessment techniques, namely: inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation. The data obtained from the physical assessment is vital to the client’s diagnosis and treatment plan.
