International Nurses Day: Why Be a Nurse?

In Honor of International Nurses Day

Establish a disaster relief effort, be in charge of a hospital, discipline the community, deliver babies, shape public policy, or make new discoveries doing critical research—these are just some of the many reasons to consider in becoming a professional nurse. But right after you witness this video, you’ll find out that there is more to it than that.

Every 12th of May, we celebrate International Nurses Day around the globe. It also coincides with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, widely considered the founder of professional nursing. The event also recognizes the contributions that nurses and nursing make to the community as developed by the American Nurses Association (ANA).

The Royal College of Nursing, in line with International Nurses Day, uploaded an inspirational video showing the real benefits of professional nursing. The team managed to ask its members why they nurse, and this is what they said…

Nursing is an emotionally fulfilling and rewarding career, and yes, there are tangible benefits. But there are more reasons why nursing is a fabulous profession. And if you are a nurse, you surely must have emotional stability in order to survive the roller coaster ride of emotions nurses must endure on a daily basis. And we have to live up to that.

Happy Nurses’ Day from!
