Nurse with Crohn’s Unveils Range of Luxury Lingerie to Help Women Like Her Feel Sexy Again

Almost every woman we meet, work with, or assume is perfect apparently struggles with her body image. Probably, each one has an issue with at least one part of her body, face, or appearance. But in the case of this nurse with Crohn’s disease, things would never be the same again, until she discovered something that would help women like her to feel sexy again.

Jasmine Stacey, a 24-year-old nurse from Bournemouth, underwent surgery for Crohn’s disease which left her needing an ileostomy bag to take the place and function of the missing organ.

“I felt awful after the operation. It was really difficult to deal with. It was a massive shock. It changed my body image.” she explained.

However, four years later, she has completely embraced her body image and started a stylish range of underwear to help other women in her position to feel downright sexy despite of whether they have ileostomy bags, scars or stretch marks.

She said: “After looking around I realized that there was nothing similar and decided to create my own collection.

“I want to take the stigma away from having a stoma bag and prove you can still be sexy with underwear.”

For about 14 years, Jasmine has been with the disease, which causes inflammation of the lining of the digestive system. The surgery left her needing an ileostomy bag – similar to colostomy bags – to collect her body’s waste products to replace the function of the lost body part.

Jasmine together with 11 women with the same condition recently took part in a raunchy calendar donning the underwear and showing off their stoma bags for charity Purple Wings, which supports bowel disease.

The campaign aims to eliminate the apprehension and possible stigma associated with the ostomy lifestyle. Its success has reaffirmed that the pouches are not hindrance to being beautiful.

“The underwear is stylish without being flimsy and empowers women to feel confident whether they have stoma bags, scars, or simply want more stomach control,” she explained.

Jasmine’s line of lingerie is made using British silk and is designed to look stylish whilst giving extra abdominal support, taking inspiration from current catwalk trends with its ultra feminine and 1950s-inspired styles.

She expects that this will benefit all women suffering with body image issues, not just those with bags, but says that it is a part of their lives that people have to accept.

The idea, meanwhile, is gaining a fanbase among Crohn’s sufferers who are taking to social media their own photos wearing her designs.

The Jasmine Stacey Collection will be at hand at the upcoming trade market The Lingerie Edit at the Savoy Hotel in London in January, which will be attended by many leading stores and boutiques.
